This is a Molteni&C project. Design Avenue did not work on it — we publish it because we represent Molteni&C in Georgia.
The house
Casa Novina stands in the hills of the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany, open to a 360-degree view of the landscape around it.
The building takes its cue from medieval Sienese architecture and settles into its surroundings rather than competing with them. Each window is set so that the hills and villages beyond sit framed within it, like pictures.
The house is made of two joined bodies, one facing north and one facing south. A private road runs through the property to the entrance façade.
Inside
The living room is the focal space: handcrafted linen sofas, sideboards and oak bookcases, with the glazing set wide enough that the view becomes the dominant element of the room.
Molteni&C in the house
Vincent Van Duysen's designs here are the Palinfrasca sofa, the Regent coffee table and the Guell outdoor sunbed.
From Gio Ponti come the Round D.154.5, D.154.2 and D.150.5 armchairs. Also present are Ron Gilad's Panna Cotta coffee table and the Woody stool by Francesco Meda.
